STEP.down.

Being that we will be needing to landscape our new little yard in the next year I have been looking for ideas everwhere.  One of my favorite places besides Pinterest? Model homes.  One trend I have noticed a  TON of model homes doing is 1.Step down areas 2. Gravel.

Many people are designating separate ares of their yards with steps and a change in the ground cover. I'm kind of digging the look but wonder if it will be a tripping hazard for guests, and if it might just be a passing trend.

What do you think?

  1. I think it's ok, but may I prefer not to step on something squishy or would get in my shoes. I prefer stone or grass or a mix of both. :-)

  2. I love the look of gravel and stone incorporated into the landscaping! The step down look is a favorite for me :)

  3. this is definitely a cool look and would be easy to maintain the gravel area. i think if you have a large-ish yard it might be a good way to break things up.

  4. I think it's a great idea (with the exception of if you are planning on having children within the next 5 years.)

  6. I dig the step down...so long as its not into loose gravel or stones - it just doesn't seem very cozy or comfy!

  9. the look is pretty, but i guess it also depends on your lifestyle. great for entertaining, but with kids, i like to have big, flat wide open spaces to run around in!
