I typically don't like to show up to places empty handed. Whether it's a house warming, or dinner at a friends house it's nice to be a gracious guest and bring something to say thank you.  As things have been a little tighter around here I'm always on the look out for fabulous and affordable diy gifts. These little succulent plants are it. Especially for spring.
Succulents- $1 each
Pot- $0.79 each
Potting soil- $2.50 for one huge bag
Rocks- $3.50 for one huge bag

These babies are literally around $3 each.

Of course I had to add a little embellishment to make it a little special.

Do you have any go to gifts?

  1. I'm the same way. This is so cute and you know that I adore your little cuckoo clock tag!

  2. Love these! Such a perfect gift. I want to gift it to myself though... lol.

  3. I'm with Tiffany I want to gift myself tons of these!

  4. So great! I've always wanted a cute little succulent! This is a fab gift idea!
    Sincerely, Sara

  5. These are absolutely adorable! I never show up empty handed and gifts usually range from wine, flowers to a basket of something personal I know they will enjoy (homemade bath salts in their favorite fragrance, candles + spa related stuff, or baked goodies.) It depends on how much I am able to spend at the moment xo

  6. Lovely! I know anyone up here should be super grateful for a bit of green in their home!

  7. I like it - this is a really good gift. Wine has always been my last minute emergency gift of choice.

  8. I am a sucker for succulents - these are so pretty the way that you wrapped them up!

  9. you're such a sweet guest. I love this idea, especially since it's a gift that the host can keep instead of flowers that will die soon. I need to some up with a little gift for my friend's bridal shower and we were thinking of a little potted plant. would love to add lace or ribbon like you did!

  10. That is a great idea and it is hard to kill those suckers even if you forget to water them
I should know, I have a brown thumb
    Love this

  11. I love that you added rocks. I'm working my own version of these little guys-and now I'm going to add some rocks and a lovely link back to you!

  12. Adorbs!! I got a succulent as a bday present once and I'll never forget it! I thought it was so unique and lasted much longer than flowers! (Yes, I eventually killed a succulent).

  15. Such an adorable gift! Succulents are my fave and they are so easy to keep alive ;)

  16. Some that I've made myself like cookies. But plants are a great idea. Thanks for posting the photos and feel free to drop by me too soon.

  17. I love these!! I could have picked these out from a line-up and guessed they were yours :) I think this is such a fabulous gift- I mean its pretty, and alive! It doesn't get better than that. I love giving cookies in a beautiful plate.....or container. That is my go to.

  18. Love this idea! Something living that will last! I'll do this next time instead of our usual bottle of wine or baked goods :)

    - Dale

  19. That is such a great idea. I may have to use it!

  20. I love these little plants - warning: you can overwater them and then their leaves plump up with all the water and die. Yes, there is a way to kill these and I figured it out :/ Anyway, love your blog! Been reading for a little while now xo
