Birdcages are no new thing. They have been in decor forever. From centerpieces, wallpaper, lamps, you name it, its been done. So what would be the best part of having a bird? I'd think a fun way to incorporate a pretty birdcage into my decor. WRONG. Who knew it was so hard to find a beautiful FUNCTIONAL cage? I love the idea of a pretty vintage cage but everything I seem to find is just for decoration. Broken hinges, toxic paint, rust, wholes.
LOVE deserves something as fabulous as all of these so let the hunt commence!
This cage is perfection.... If only I could find one like this.
This one was pretty pristine but it sold :(
I'm to hound Etsy. Anyone know where I might find one?
I have always loved decorative bird cages! If I see a pretty one I will be sure to send a link over right away xo
ReplyDeletei hear u about a FUNCTIONAL "pretty" birdcage - wish i could help - i have a bird hotel looking cage :o) ..
ReplyDeletePS pass it along - giveaway going on at my blog :o)
That one is beautiful...I will keep an eye out for you....Does Z gallery have some? I feel like they have some beautiful ones....but am not sure if they would work because they might be just decorative? But I agree you have to find a grand one because they can really add so much to a room..
ReplyDeleteI love how whimsical a bird cage can make a room feel - I usually find some at vintage/thrift stores. Beautiful bits of inspiration!

I know exactly what you mean!! My bird wants to look amazing in an amazing cage, but it seems the world doesn't want either of us to find THE ONE. Every time one comes close it's always far too small or would take up a quarter of my living room.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could help you, but I have no idea!!! There has got to be someone recreating vintage style cages that are safe & functional, don't you think? And is that your bird?? So pretty :) XO Brynn
ReplyDeleteI don't know how LA is, but our antique shops always have a cage or three. Usually in good condition and interesting to look at. I'd hit some local spots that don't have websites; maybe ask your mom to help and it could be a fun adventure/girls day.
ReplyDeleteahhh good luck! never though about how it would hard to find something functional. i always check out amazon first for stuff, but then maybe also check out ebay? good luck!!

I agree with you! Love needs a non-commercially plastic pedestrian cage! A gorgeous antique will do the trick!

Long live the birdcages!!! These are certainly stylish and trendy examples as to how birdcages can be incorporated in your home decor as a fancy accessory. Thank you for the lovely idea :) It certainly gave me some food for thought on what to do with my nephew's old bird cage... after I give it a good, thorough cleaning that is ;)
