The other day I was perusing Bijou and Boheme when I came across a Moroccan wedding blanket from Beyond Marrakech. OMG someone give me a few hundies so I can get my hands on one of these! Seriously trying to figure a way, sorry Love, no groceries this month! But we will be oh so cozy in our new blankie. Enough of my blabber check em out.
What do you think? Worth the splurge?

Why is it called a wedding blanket?
ReplyDeleteBecause in Morocco a berber (Amazigh) bride receives one as a gift that is made by the women in her family. I would know as I am Moroccan and mostly berber Moroccan at that. :) I got one for my wedding from my grandmother. Nowadays there are groups of women who custom make them by request.
DeleteSuch a beautiful blanket!I love the different textures!
ReplyDeleteAlways, always wanted one. Same boat-- so many other things to spend on, especially with a new house. Thinking of holding myself over with a pillow or two! By the way... loved your dip dye curtain post yesterday! I was totally wrong... thought you'd go pink! I agree with the others... let it sit with you for a while. If not, the beauty of that project is both cost and ease, right? Coral would be pretty too!
ReplyDeletewow these are amazing! I love the 2 different diamond patterned ones the best i think. These would be more for looking at rather than using I think - they're too pretty!

Totally lusting for one of these as well! While we're here in Germany, we're planning on making a trip over to Morocco in the next year or two...I mean we're just too close not too!...compared to flying from the US anyways! I want to pick one up in person...and a Beni too!

I love them....how much are they exactly? I think it would be an investment piece forever.....maybe set up a fund and save every month toward it :)
ReplyDeleteNothing like anything I have ever seen before - not even on my Moroccan trip. I don't like them all that much but they definitely are special.

I think there are a few things in life to splurge on... Bed linens and pillows are one of them. You will get your mileage out of them considering you will use them every day! If you are in love, I say do it. You will appreciate it every day.

These are gorgeous but 1. I could never spend that much on a blanket, 2. Simon would destroy it! Yes, Simon sleeps with us and it can make purchasing bedding a bit of a headache...his little nails and habits of digging and chewing put anything delicate at risk! If Lola doesn't share your bed, I think you are halfway there =)
ReplyDeleteWOW that is gorgeous. why does it have to be so much!? i need it though...
