With my holiday party less than a week away our house looks like a party planning construction zone.  I have been working on so many diys and I am so excited to be showing you my diy pinata, because I am super happy with how it came out.  It was actually much easier than I had expected and turned out pretty similar to the confetti systems one I was drooling over.  I already had all the materials with the exception of the foil tissue, so all in all I spent about $3 on this project.

These are the steps I followed with a few tweaks found at the bottom of this post.

If making a diamond shape cut 8 perfect triangles all the same size.  If you sucked in geometry (ME) and they do not come together exact, you can cheat a little while taping it together, over lapping, or  taping over gaps.

DO NOT USE A GLUE THAT RUNS.  I found the roller adhesives to work the easiest and cleanest. A glue stick would work as well.

Start at the bottom and work your way up.

Don't forget to attach your rope or string through the top. I braided torn pieces of fabric to create a rope.

If you are going to use it as a real pinata dont forget to cut a hole to fill it.

  1. I love the braided rope to hang it! It came out beautiful!! It looks wonderful!

  2. LOOOVE. It came out lovely. What a fun project to brighten things up while we've had all this rain this week! I've been meaning to do this for some time now myself. I've even had the materials since last Christmas and just never got around to it. Getting the itch to make one of my own after seeing yours (maybe for my birthday in Feb??) Can't wait to see how your handmade soiree will unfold.

  3. Kristen- your DIY is fabulous. Sparkly, glittery fabulousness!
