New Home Inspiration: KITCHEN

At the turn of 2012 my husband and I made the resolution that by the end of the year we would own our first home.  Seven months in, we are riding this crazy market and hopefully will be home owners in the next few months.  While I don't know exactly what my home will look like I'm definitely setting my design hopes high.  I figure if I take this time to pin point exactly what I like, when it comes time, I can renovate my place to get the look. (In a smaller scale at a smaller price).  Then I can share all the before and after's with you guys :)

First up- The Kitchen

I have ridiculously high hopes for my kitchen.  I have come to terms with the fact that whatever I buy will need a kitchen face lift.

The next two photos pretty much sum up what I'm longing for.

MUST haves:

White cabinets, white subway tile. (freshhome.com)
Dark floors, carerra marble countertops. (florelladesign.com)

Farmhouse sink. Open shelving. (cococozy.com)

Pendant Lighting. (West Elm).
All my must haves add up to this. (luxitrend.com)

I have kind of been digging these islands with marble to the floor. (Not sure what they are called).  What do you think?   Worth the investment or just a passing trend?

  2. That last kitchen is one of my favourites. Love the marble to the floor look, although I think I'll be having an affordable Ikea option for my place. In Australia that look is called a waterfall by the way :) xx
